Investment World for Development and Technology (IWDT)

delivers data-driven solutions, digital transformation, and capacity-building programmes that support sustainable development and institutional growth.

About This Project

As part of its commitment to strengthening technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and bridging the gap between training and labour-market needs, Investment World for Development and Technology (IWDT) established and developed Laval Academy for Beauty Arts and Sciences as one of its leading education and skills-development initiatives.

Laval Academy was founded in 2016 with support from a grant provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It was created as a specialised learning platform offering accredited training programmes and diplomas in beauty disciplines—such as professional makeup, skincare, and hairdressing—delivered in line with high local and international standards to meet the needs of the labour market in Jordan and the region. Since its launch, the project has successfully achieved its objectives and was recognised as a distinguished initiative under the grant framework.

Accreditations and Partnerships

Laval Academy’s programmes are built on a strong foundation of local and international accreditations and partnerships, including:

Académie de Paris – GIP-FCIP, the official vocational education body in France.

Elisa Lemonnier School (Paris), one of France’s oldest and most reputable beauty institutions.

• Training partnerships with leading global brands, including L’Oréal Professional, SOTHYS Paris, and ESSIE.

• Local accreditation in Jordan by the Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission (TVSDC)

Training Philosophy and Excellence

Laval Academy follows a training-for-employment approach. Programmes are designed to be highly practical and applied, focusing on building professional and life skills and aligning training outcomes directly with labour-market requirements.

This approach has contributed to:

• Graduating more than 3,000 students since establishment

• Achieving an employment rate of over 80% among graduates

• Enabling graduates to enter local and regional markets and generate sustainable income
